Conor Oberst - Cape Canaveral
Sometimes you rediscover music from just a short few years ago…recently I’ve done that with Conor Oberst’s self-titled album from 2008. Cape Canaveral is the lead track and it’s very good, it hooks you into the rest of the album. Oberst is an amazing song writer but his stuff with Bright Eyes can sometimes be downright depressing. That’s why I liked this album so much…it seemed very different to me than his Bright Eyes stuff.
What is the song Cape Canaveral about? Who knows, and more importantly who cares? It can be about a lot of different things. It’s up to you to decide what it means. My personal favorite lyric in the song (and perhaps the album) is :
you taught me victory is sweet
even deep in the cheap seats
